Marc A. Edelstein, M.D., FACP, FACG

Dr. Marc Edelstein is a highly acclaimed Gastroenterologist and is recognized as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders and the performance of endoscopic procedures. He founded Beverly Hills Gastroenterology in 2003 and currently works with his wife, Dr. Susan Edelstein, who is a pediatric gastroenterologist. He is the previous founder and Medical Director of Robertson Surgical Center and Managing Director of Beverly Hills Advanced Surgical Institute.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Doctorate in Medicine at Boston University. While in medical school, Dr. Edelstein was awarded the Henry J. Bakst Scholarship Award. He completed his internship and residency in internal Medicine at UCLA Medical Center in 1998. As a resident, he was awarded the UCLA Internal Medicine chief Resident’s Award. Dr. Edelstein completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at UCLA Medical Center in 2001. During his fellowship, he was awarded the UCLA Schering Oncology/Biotech Hepatology Fellowship Award as well as the UCLA Amgen Fellow Award in Digestive Diseases and Hepatology.

 Dr. Edelstein is ABIM board-certified in Gastroenterology. He has been elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, and a Fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards. Dr. Edelstein has been named to the Southern California Super Doctors list Times (as chosen by peers; top 5% of doctors in the area) for 16 consecutive years. He was also named to the Southern California Super Doctors Hall of Fame list (as chosen by peers with a minimum of 10 years in Southern California Super Doctors) for the past 7 years. Most recently in 2024, Dr. Edelstein was named a Southern California Super Doctors Hall of Fame Legacy Member (as chosen by peers with minimal selection of 15 or more years). He has been named to the Los Angeles Magazine Top Doctor’s list (as chosen by peers) for 8 years in a row, Castle Connolly Top Doctors list (as chosen by peers; top 7% of doctors in U.S.) for 9 years in a row, Modern Luxury Top Doctors of Los Angeles in 2022 and 2023, and Los Angeles Business Journal’s Los Angeles’ Top Doctors (as chose by peers) for the past 4 consecutive years.

While serving as the Medical Director of Robertson Surgical Center, the center was recognized by the ASGE (American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program from 2009 through 2012 and again from 2012 through 2015. The program honors endoscopy units that have demonstrated a commitment to patient safety and quality in endoscopy as evidenced by meeting the program’s rigorous criteria, which includes following the ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing, CDC infection control guidelines, and ensuring endoscopy staff competency.

Dr. Edelstein joined the medical staff of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2003. He served as the Clinical Chief of Division of Gastroenterology from 2010 through 2013, the Vice Clinical Chief of the Department of Medicine from 2014 through 2015, and the Clinical Chief of the Department of Medicine from 2016 through 2019. Dr. Edelstein was elected to Secretary of the Medical Staff from 2018 through 2019 and most recently served as the Chief of Staff from 2020 through 2022. As the Chief of Staff, he chaired numerous committees including the Medical Executive Committee, the Credentials Committee, the Quality Council, and the Medical Staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force. As the Past Chief of Staff, he has served as the Chair of the Medical Staff Leadership Review Committee and Co-Chair of Advanced Physician Leadership Development for Cedars-Sinai.

He was elected to the Board of Directors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2020 and has served on the Executive Committee. Dr. Edelstein is the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Directors Continuous Quality Improvement Committee and is also a member of the Finance Committee. He was a member of the 10 year Strategic Plan Task Force in 2022. 

Dr. Edelstein has been actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He has served as Co-Director of the Esophageal Multidisciplinary Case Conference and has also served as the Director of the Division of Gastroenterology Grand Rounds Morbidity and Mortality Case Conferences. He served as a Clinical Instructor of the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine from 2010 through 2023.

He was elected to the Board of Governors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2006. The Board of Governors is the primary fundraising and leadership development group at Cedars-Sinai. He has served on the Executive Committee and Leadership Cabinet and previously served as the Physician Liaison and Physician Engagement Chair as well as Co-Chair of the Education Committee.

Dr. Edelstein has also served on many local and national professional committees. He is a current Counselor and is Past President of the Southern California Society of Gastroenterology. Dr. Edelstein was born in New York and raised in Los Angeles.  He is married and has 3 children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, scuba diving, and skiing.

Susan Pacini Edelstein, M.D., FAAP

Dr. Susan Pacini Edelstein is a leading Pediatric Gastroenterologist widely recognized as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of infant and childhood gastrointestinal disorders. In 2004 she joined her husband as one of the founders of Beverly Hills Gastroenterology. 

Dr. Edelstein earned her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Southern California and her Doctorate in Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at UCLA Medical Center, where her honors included Resident of the Year. Dr. Edelstein was selected to be Chief Resident before completing her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at UCLA Medical Center. She received the Physician of the Year award at UCLA Medical Center in 2002. 

Dr. Edelstein is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatric Gastroenterology. In addition to numerous other professional honors and distinctions, she has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Edelstein began her career in academics working on the Small Bowel Transplant Program at UCLA Medical Center. She previously served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Edelstein was born and raised in Los Angeles.  She is married and has 3 children. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, and skiing.
